The history of Novigrad dates back to the Roman period, when they established the fortification called Civitas Novum. Walking along the squares and streets of Novigrad you will experience the atmosphere of the past thanks to its rich cultural heritage. Apart from excellent restaurants, taverns and other facilities, do not miss the opportunity to admire the magnificient loggia and the facades in the Gothic style, like for example the palace of the Rigo family, built around 1760. The historic core of the town is surrounded by walls dating back to the 13th century, whereas the parish church of St. Pelagius and St. Maximilian preserve the remains of an Early Christian basilica.
